Runway presentations help shape the future visual language of fashion. The styling choices, color palettes, silhouettes, and layering techniques showcased on the runway trickle down to influence mainstream retail manufacturers, fast-fashion brands, and street style trends. A grand catwalk presentation cements the status of the brand on the industry pyramid. The spectacle reinforces the brand's luxury authority and generates interest.
Photographic source material for Collection III derives from portraits taken by Ralph J. Colicchio during his courtship of Fannie Di Nallo in 1919. Mr. Colicchio played mandolin in Arturo Toscanini’s orchestra, appearing on phonograph records; also played tenor banjo; composed music; authored study guides; and, late in his career, performed as banjoist for Julie Andrews’s Broadway appearance in The Boy Friend in 1954–1955. Some of his musical compositions and a video are available on YouTube Music.
